1. Scope
This page sets out the delivery terms for KUDEN made-to-order garments and for the vintage haori sold under haoru by KUDEN ("Vintage items"). It does not apply to rinlife Magazine subscriptions.
2. Where we sell
We offer checkout for made-to-order garments only in countries and regions we have reviewed and approved for sale. You cannot purchase where we are unable to meet the requirements for the destination, applicable law, customs clearance, payment, or shipping insurance. If we find after an order that the sales eligibility was recorded incorrectly, we will not begin production and will cancel the order in accordance with applicable law and our Returns, Refunds and Defects policy.
3. Delivery estimate for made-to-order garments
For made-to-order garments, the usual guide is approximately three months from the production start date — the date on which both final specification approval and payment capture are complete — to dispatch. This varies with fabric sourcing and artisan availability.
Depending on fabric procurement and artisan capacity, an order may run about one and a half months or more beyond that usual guide. After your order we confirm your final size, destination, fabric and production slot, and give you an individual dispatch estimate in the final specification email. That estimate is a guide, not a guaranteed date.
If we expect that we cannot dispatch by the individual estimate we gave you, we will tell you before that date, explain why, and give a new estimate. You may then either confirm in writing that you wish to continue, or cancel for a full refund with no deduction. Where applicable law gives you a remedy more favourable than this, that law applies.
4. Shipping, taxes and duties
Made-to-order garments
We sell made-to-order garments only in markets where we have confirmed, market by market, that KUDEN can bear the ordinary shipping cost, import duties, VAT/GST/sales tax and ordinary customs handling fees. In approved regions we will not invoice you afterwards for those ordinary costs for the destination agreed at checkout. The order contents and the amount charged are governed by what Shopify Checkout displays. We do not offer checkout in regions where the carrier or customs broker cannot guarantee these terms.
Exceptional costs arising from an incomplete address, information you did not submit, refusal of delivery, extended storage, or split or repeat deliveries at your request are handled under section 6; we will tell you what they are and give an estimate in advance.
Vintage items
For Vintage items, shipping is displayed and charged at Shopify Checkout according to the destination. Import duties, import taxes and customs charges are payable by you to the carrier or customs authority on arrival. The order contents and the amount charged are governed by what Shopify Checkout displays.
5. Customs and destination information
Where a customs authority or carrier requires identity or taxpayer information by law, please submit it directly through that organisation's official channel. KUDEN does not collect My Number, passport numbers, taxpayer identification numbers or similar identifiers through product pages, email or chat.
Before a shipping label is issued we can change the delivery address within the same country. A change of country or region is decided case by case, after we re-check tax, customs, shipping and sales eligibility.
6. Refused delivery and missing information
Where redelivery, return or storage costs arise because required information was not provided, the address was incomplete, or delivery was refused, those actual costs are payable by you. We will tell you what they are and give an estimate in advance wherever possible. We do not, as a rule, refund orders that were refused on delivery — except for your rights under applicable law and for our own non-performance or non-conformity.
If you do not respond to a legitimate request from the carrier or a similar party, we wait seven calendar days from our first contact and send a reminder on day five. After that we move the parcel to return or storage. Once a parcel has been returned, we may accept one redelivery, conditional on a corrected address and required information and on advance payment of the actual return, storage and redelivery costs.
7. Shipping method and transit incidents
We use shipping methods for which we can confirm tracking, signature on receipt, and cover for the order value, shipping and tax. DHL is our first choice; we do not open sales in regions where these conditions cannot be met.
For loss or damage in transit before you or your nominated recipient takes physical delivery, we will act under applicable law and these terms, in parallel with our claim to the carrier or insurer. Carrier and insurer cover is our means of recovering our loss; it does not limit any remedy available to you under applicable law.
8. Force majeure
Dispatch estimates may be delayed by disaster, war or sanctions, epidemic, transport network failure, customs restrictions, serious illness of an artisan, interruption of raw material supply, or other circumstances beyond KUDEN's reasonable control. In those cases we will still notify you once we know, and follow the delay procedure in section 3.
