Ep.06 The steel katana 01
“How long are you going to make me wait!”
The one-eyed man made no attempt to hide his frustration and pretended as if he would leave at any moment.
“Mr.Takanobu, I’m sorry you had to come all the way here. I would like to ask for your kind cooperation. ”
Bowing his head, Sanjuro let Takanobu take his seat.
Among the leaders of the Samurai-Dan in formal wear, a man of medium height, medium build, and with a single eye stood out from the crowd wearing a tattered samue-like work clothes and tied hair.
As if in finality, Takanobu clears his throat and catches the gazes of the members who are looking at him.
A low, clear voice echoed from the back of the room.
“Long time no see.”
Kondo, the head of Samurai-Dan, calls out to Takanobu.
“Huh.”
Takanobu turns his face away and responds with a snort.
“What’s your attitude! Don’t rude to Mr.Kondo!”
The newcomer captain chided Takanobu.
“Never mind. Go on.”
Kondo, without a care in the world, urged Sanjuro to continue his story.
“Well, yes, let's start by summarizing the steel katana….
‘The steel katana has a mysterious power.’
'It did not have this mysterious power from the beginning, but it has been manifested over the ages.’
‘Steel is a minor metal on Venus, Mars and other planets.’
‘Steel katana are kept and studied in the Armament Research and Development team as a top-secret of Bell country.’
‘The existing steel katana are those that have been handed down from generation to generation in the Bell country and those that were discovered in a collection of swords that were leaked in a spaceship crash a few years ago.’
…everyone understand so far?”
Unable to contain his curiosity, Harada leans forward and asks Sanjuro.
“You mean, the spaceship crash is the case before I joined the Samurai-Dan. As I remember, after that accident, a group of outlaws from other countries and outer space gathered to steal the treasure from the spaceship, and the security in this area deteriorated….. After I joined, heard the steel katana have mysterious powers but never actually seen those powers in action, so you’ll have to give me the proper details!“
To be continued...

●KUDEN clothes care point by staff Sena Sena, a KUDEN staff member, also handles PR, translation, and voice acting. But within the company, he is known as the ironing master. Sena has always loved ironing and does it before each KUDEN photo shoot, and since KUDEN's clothes have gimmicks and designs not found in other brands, ironing requires a certain knack. This is a care corner by Sena, who receives tips and advice from sewing artisans and concierges.
●KUDEN History「Live like traveling」 After falling into bankruptcy, falling ill, being separated from my son, and hitting rock bottom, I decided that I create a place where I could work with my disabled son in the future. I decided to start KUDEN with this goal in mind. Through encounters with various people, KUDEN has come to be what it is today. People who want to become fashion designers. People who are interested in how to start a new business in this era, people who like KUDEN's clothes and want to know more about KUDEN. For those who want to get hints for overcoming hardships and adversities, and for those who love children with disabilities, we will weave a memoir of KUDEN's history from its origins to the present. →KUDEN History「Live like traveling」Part 03 “Stay in the Philippines: Fatherhood and Management Side”(Latest article in Vol.006)
【The World of Ningyo Joruri Bunraku - a Traditional Japanese Performing Art -】
ingyo Joruri Bunraku.Ningyo joruri (puppet theater) was created by combining joruri, the art of storytelling in which stories are told and listened to with instruments such as the shamisen and biwa, with the art of puppet performance.
※Ningyo joruri was born from the joruri, a form of oral literature, music, or performing arts that originated in medieval Japan. ※Joruri is a type of music for the theater in which the shamisen is used as an accompaniment and the tayu recites lyrics.
There are three roles that make up Ningyo Joruri Bunraku puppet theater. They are called “Sangyo". "Sangyo" is a trinity of comprehensive entertainment consisting of the tayu, shamisen player, and puppeteer.
Mr. Sakiju Toyotake, KUDEN's Global Ambassador, is the "Tayu" in the above. We introduce him in a three-part series, including a video interview on why he became a tayu.
In addition, the Tokyo Bunraku performance, in which Sakijutayu will appear, will start on the 11th.

Let me start by asking you what is the dream that you really want to achieve? I want to create a place where I can work with my son, who has a disability, and where he and other unique children like him can work, get paid, and live after I die. Specifically, we would like to have our own design office, sewing factory, and backyard for shipping. Those who can use a computer can work in the design office, those who are good with their hands can use a sewing machine, etc. to do sewing work, and in the backyard, we can ask them to do packing and inspections. We are developing a concept that if we can have everything in-house from the design office to the backyard, we will be able to find some kind of work that suits the characteristics of the children. What is urgently needed now is a sewing factory. Yesterday, I had a meeting with a craftsman who can sew small items such as the collar parts of KUDEN's Juban Shirt, standing collar, attached sleeves, and skirt parts of Hakkake, and we talked about the industry, and we discussed the fact that sewing factories in Japan are disappearing at an alarming rate. In addition, the craftsmen are aging and the younger generation has not inherited the high level of Japanese sewing skills at all. No, seriously, what is the Japanese fashion industry going to do? As a newcomer to the industry, I am more impatient than them.
The people who love KUDEN are wonderful ladies with great sewing skills. If possible, we need to set up a small place with sewing machines and other equipment within a year or so, hire the ladies, and set up a system to teach sewing skills to the younger generation! As a business owner, I am twisting my head to see if I can do something. Places where clothes can be sewn in Japan will soon disappear. Even though there are many young people who love fashion, the sites where they are made are exhausted by brand-led low wages and short delivery times, and young people are not given attractive treatment. KUDEN is serious about earning foreign currency overseas and focusing on this issue. I would like to create a system to train the younger generation of craftspeople to become skilled craftspeople, and to link this to employment for the disabled. It is a difficult problem, but it is essential to my dream, so I will continue to think and act on it.
Tomorrow I will be in Tokyo for a photo shoot with Sakiju Tayu of the Bunraku puppet play. Mr. Sakiju is performing in part one and part three of the Tokyo performance. He will come to the photo shoot at the end of the first part and go to the third part after finish of the photo shoot. (Thank you very much!) Since there are not many men's outfits photo, we will be taking a lot of pictures of the cool Mr. Sakiju.
The first skirt we made through crowdfunding is now being remade due to a defective part of the skirt. We will contact those affected by this issue with the delivery date and other details by e-mail. We apologize for the inconvenience. This is the first time for us to make this skirt and it has many design features, so we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the high sewing difficulty. We will take great care of it and deliver it to you.
Once the deficiency of this Hakkake part is resolved, we will be accepting orders for skirts on our website( we are on the verge of doing so!). Thank you for your kind understanding.
Thanks again for reading. See you next week.
