Kimono philosophy -Fashion-

KUDEN's clothes are neither kimono remakes nor common everyday outfit designs.
Therefore, people who are interested in kimonos , and people who prefer Mode Fashion or different styles are often attracted to the shape of the kimono and the brand's atmosphere and visit the site.
I am writing this text to tell you, the first visitor to the site, about the appeal of KUDEN's clothes and why they are in the shape they are in.

In order to more intuitively convey what the KUDEN brand is and what makes KUDEN clothes different, we created a page called “kimono philosophy,” which is synonymous with the collections usually released by the brand, but has a slightly different meaning.

Why do we use the word “Kimono Philosophy”?
The normal collection cycle for a brand is twice a year, such as spring/summer and fall/winter every year. At most, four times a year for the four seasons.
A collection is released, and another collection the following year. So-called clothes are used and thrown away.

In fact, KUDEN also has a collection.
However, since KUDEN aims for ethical fashion that does not mass-produce and mass-dispose, and its slogan is “designs that can be loved for ten years,” each design is not released until it has become a satisfactory product.
The brand is characterized by the fact that the designers and wearers collaborate closely on the designs that are released, and after receiving feedback from the wearers, the designs are updated from one version to two, and from two to three.

Yes, KUDEN's collections are not born every season. And it never disappears. ”Eternal collection” is KUDEN's philosophy.
Then why do we not use the word “collection”?
For many years, KUDEN has been calling for the “ elimination of collections.“
It is correct to say that KUDEN has discontinued “early-cycle collections that use up designs in a season,” but for the purpose of clarity for customers and to avoid misleading KUDEN's brand value by using the word “collection” as used by fashion brands, we dare not use the word “collection.“

So what words shall we apply?
A word that replaces the Eternal Collection, a word that gives the customer a short overview of KUDEN while prompting them to act on your question, “What is KUDEN's brand and clothing?“
Words that drive action to make people tap the location of that item on their smart phones without hesitation are desirable.

What is “collection” in Fashion ever?
A collection as defined by other brands and imagined by ordinary customers means “this is the style that the designer designed for this year and this season” with the label “2023 Autumn/Winter Collection”.

What KUDEN creates is an ethereal collection.
However, as mentioned earlier, the word “collection” is not used.

Eternal = to continue to be consistent with the brand's philosophy.
It can be conveyed in the Eternal collection, but it is weak.
Because it is Eternal, the brand and the clothes should reflect a consistent philosophy.

When we extract what customers find appealing from the look and feel of the clothes, we can summarize KUDEN as “Kimono”.
Therefore, instead of using an abstract term like “Eternal Collection,” which could be imitated by any brand, we thought it would be better to use a term that capture the essence better than the Eternal Collection.

I design for people in Japan and abroad who cannot wear kimonos, so that they can enjoy kimono-style without the difficulty of dressing up.

People who are interested in kimonos but cannot wear them, or for those like me who are too busy to wear them because of limited places to wear them, don't give up on kimonos.
KUDEN's clothes can be said to be a device that allows kimono lovers like you to feel kimonos in their daily life.

Every day I think about how I can apply what I consider to be the beautiful aspects of Kimono to clothing, with the hope of spreading the Kimono culture to those who are interested in it, the younger generation and people overseas, while eventually encouraging them to try their hand at traditional Kimono.

Through KUDEN's clothes, we want to preserve traditional kimono culture and create commercial kimono-making and clothes-making sewing jobs. This can be called KUDEN's philosophy of fashion, the Kimono Philosophy.
