1. Information we collect

KUDEN collects your name, email address, delivery country or region, the product you want, colour, size, delivery address, and information relating to your order, payment and enquiries. Body and measurement information is collected optionally, where it is needed for consultation or production.

KUDEN does not ask for My Number, passport numbers, taxpayer identification numbers or similar identifiers through product pages, email or chat.

2. How we use it

We use the information we collect for consultation, taking orders, confirming specifications, payment, production, delivery, customs clearance, handling defects, refunds, fraud prevention, and records required by law. Marketing such as newsletters is carried out only where there is separate, optional consent.

Body and measurement information is, as a rule, used only for the consultation and production of that order. Anonymised examples that do not use your name, photograph, contact details or order number may be used to help another customer with a size question. Where we feature you on social media or on the site, we obtain your express prior permission, stating the content, the medium and the scope of publication.

3. Sharing

We share the minimum information necessary for delivery with carriers and customs brokers, and only the specification necessary for production with artisans. We do not share payment information with artisans or carriers.

4. Retention and deletion

For size discussions that continue after a card authorisation has been voided, and for personal information in exceptional draft orders, we delete or anonymise ninety days after the last exchange — except for the minimum records required for the contract, by law, or for fraud prevention.

Information relating to paid orders is retained only for the purposes of performing the contract, legal requirements, accounting, fraud prevention and handling defects, and only for the period required by applicable law. You can request deletion of your account by email, and can ask us to delete or anonymise your information other than where we are required to retain it.

5. Who processes your information

KUDEN runs this store on Shopify. Shopify hosts the store and processes orders, payments and customer accounts on our behalf, and stores that information on servers outside Japan. Payments are handled by the provider you choose at checkout — Shopify Payments, PayPal, Paidy or Solana Pay — under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Delivery uses international carriers and, where a shipment is dutiable, a customs broker.

Other services that may process information you give us: product reviews, the subscription service used for rinlife Magazine, the members' forum, the rewards programme, chat and email, and analytics. Each processes only what its function requires.

Where your information leaves the country you are in, we do so to perform the contract with you, and we ask each processor for a level of protection consistent with this page.

6. Cookies, logs and analytics

When you visit the store, cookies — small text files — are placed on your device. Some are necessary: they keep your cart, keep you signed in, and remember your language and country. Others measure how the store is used, so we can see which pages fail people.

Our servers also record ordinary log information automatically: your IP address, browser type, the pages you came from and went to, and the time of each request. We use it to keep the store working and to detect fraud.

You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. Necessary cookies cannot be switched off without breaking the cart and sign-in.

7. Keeping your information safe

The store is served over an encrypted connection. Access to order and customer information is limited to the people who need it for the work described on this page. We do not hold your full card number; payment providers handle it.

If we become aware that your information has been exposed, we will tell you and the relevant authority as required by applicable law.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Where you are in the EU or the UK, you can also object to certain processing, ask us to restrict it, and ask for a copy of the information you gave us in a portable form. Where processing rests on your consent — a newsletter, or a photograph of you on social media — you can withdraw that consent at any time.

We keep what the contract, tax law, accounting and fraud prevention require us to keep, for as long as they require it. Beyond that, we delete or anonymise.

9. Children, and links to other sites

This store is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Pages here link to sites we do not run — carriers, payment providers, social media, the magazine's forum. This page does not govern what those sites do with your information. Read their own policies before you give them anything.
