■ 1. Catch up
Hello everyone. This is Takahiro Sato, a.k.a. Tak, the designer. Yesterday was my son's sports day. It was a small-scale event for each school department, not for the entire elementary, junior high, and senior high schools of the special-needs school, but I was able to watch my 13-year-old son's sports day for the first time in my life.
My son and children trying their best. I cheered them on, sometimes in tears.
The reality is that after these children graduate from high school, they suddenly have fewer options for support and places to go. I have learned a lot from my experience as the person in charge of hiring people with disabilities for a major toy manufacturer.
In the fast-paced world of the future, will support for children with disabilities ever become more affordable?
At KUDEN, I am always thinking about creating jobs by earning foreign currency, aiming for equal work and equal pay for both disabled and other people, and creating an organization where people who can achieve results ( make customers happy) are valued by helping each other, rather than competing within the company.
To an organization that can CO-create rather than COmpete.
I will definitely do my best so that we can hire people with disabilities so that everyone can work.
When I started KUDEN, I was very scared and anxious because I had been bankrupt once before, and I had to leave my disabled son after I collapsed due to hard work.
I bought a sewing machine, studied patterns, and designed my first outfit. Samurai Mode Series。
I wanted these clothes to give the wearer a sense of dignity and courage, and to allow them to walk briskly with their chests out as if they were cutting through the wind. It was also my personal wish to shake off my anxious feelings at that time.
To express this conflict, we created a promotional movie with Kenta Kambara, a wheelchair dancer whose performance at the Tokyo Paralympics is still fresh in our memories, and Nobuyuki Arai, the director of the video.
Just before this shoot began, Marron, the sewing factory that had been supporting us, went bankrupt.
I came up with this catchphrase with many thoughts in mind.
"Is it cool to fashion someone else's sacrifice?"
If you have not seen this award-winning PV in the U.S. or Greece, please take this opportunity to see it.
