■ 1. Catch up
Hello everyone, it's Tak, designer.
Today is July 7, Tanabata in Japan. It is not like Hikoboshi and Orihime who meet once a year on Tanabata, but my son’s mother come to Nikko today to meet with him, so I am writing this newsletter in between the meeting.
I have completed the design phase of the Japanese set-up that I am currently informing you about and am in the process of making patterns (blueprints for clothes) with our pattern maker Tanigawa-san and myself.
Today, I will show you the first design I drew. From here, we decide on the fabric, structure, etc., and start the pattern process. I also decide on a formal name for the garment, and proceed from pattern to sample sewing, taking into consideration the ease of sewing details, strength, comfort, and so on. In the next issue, I will be able to show pictures of the toile (a temporary sample made with a needle, not sewn, in sheeting fabric) made in the process of pattern making.
