Japanese is known as one of the most difficult languages in the world.
However, because of this, it has a wide range of expressions, and there are many "beautiful Japanese" from ancient to modern words.
Here, we would like to introduce some of the "Beautiful Japanese" selected by the KUDEN team as "Beautiful Letters."
The shape of the letters is of course beautiful, but if you know the meaning, you can feel the depth of the beauty even more.
We hope you enjoy learning Japanese language not often listed in textbooks.

Today's Beautiful Japanese
水無月
noun
Read : Minazuki (みなづき)
Daily use: Not often but many people know
----------
[ Meaning ]
Sixth month of the lunar calendar.
-----
Minazuki means 'month of water'.
Looking at the kanji, it may seem like 'the month without water', but in fact the ‘無' in Minazuki is the word for ‘of' and actually means 'the month of water'.
The origin of this word is that it is the time when water is poured into rice paddies that had no water before.
Sometimes referred to as the “水月”(Suigetsu).
For Japanese anime fans, Suigetsu them of the character from NARUTO.
Suigetsu itself can mean the moon reflected in water, or it can be a metaphor for being empty and without substance.
Words using the same ‘水 water' and ‘月 moon' can be transformed into words with different meanings depending on the combination. This is one of the difficulties and depths of the Japanese language.
