Wet-drawing yuzen is a traditional method of breathing life into kimonos by painting them on wet fabric, stroke by stroke, by hand, one piece at a time, by artisan.
This is the first collaboration between Nao, a wet-drawing yuzen artisan and artist based in Kyoto , and Tak, an Italian Design Award-winning designer.
KUDEN's standard kimono shirt ‘Samurai Mode Shirt II’ is decorated on the right breast with a dragon and cherry blossom, popular motifs in ancient Japan.
The body of the shirt is black and white.
The dragon and cherry blossoms depicted by Nao change depending on the color of the shirt body.
with a dynamic dragon rising from the overlapping kimono collar to the right breast.
Pretty blooming on the right breast.
After receiving your order, we will send your shirts to Kyoto and Nao will carefully hand-paint each one.
The differences in the dragons and cherry blossoms, which can only be created by hand-painting, are one of the best parts of this item.
Please try on this new age of Japanese fusion, only one of its kind in the world.
Born in Kyoto.
Nao Aratani is a yuzen artisan and artist, who inherited the technique from her father, a wet-drawing yuzen artisan, and not only paints on traditional kimonos, but also uses clothes as a canvas.
He creates motifs for his designs every day, and researches dyes and other materials for the wet-drawing yuzen technique that do not come off even after washing.
He mixes various dyes according to the materials of kimono and clothes, and puts his heart and soul into his work using dyes that do not fade away even after washing.
He is a father who has also started a brand called GEN SENCE for his handicapped son.
Together with KUDEN designer Tak, they decided to do something for children with disabilities, and this collaboration began.
